Thank you very much for all the academies that have sent us the names of their IAMP contact person. We hope that information exchange will speed up and become even more interesting to us all.

The IAMP Statement on Health Co-Benefits of Climate Change mitigation was very well received and dissemination continues (Please download the programme at http://www.22ndpsc.net/ and go to subtheme 7) We will be contacting those academies which did not sign up in the hope that this was due to an oversight. (http://www.worldhealthsummit.org/) Online registration has began and profiles of some of the keynote speakers. The Deutsche Akademie der Naturforscher Leopoldina will host a panel on Climate Change and Health.

With reference to the impact of climatic change on parasitic diseases the Colombian Academy of Medicine informs us that a symposium is being organized at the XX Congress of the Latin American Federation of Parasitology in Bogotá, Colombia from 27 September to 1 October 2011. Topics covered will include: Climatic and non-climatic factors affecting tick borne diseases emergence and spread in Europe, Impact of climatic change on transmisssion of Ascaris lumbricoides and Distribution of Leishmaniasis. An IAMP sponsored workshop on Scientific Writing will be held next week in Paris at the Académie des Sciences & Académie Nationale de Médecine. The aim is to widen the scope of the current project which to date has successfully tutored young clinicians in 17 African countries – both Anglophone and Francophone. TWAS SCIENCE PRIZE -Our host academy TWAS has announced the annual call for nominations for the 2011 Ernesto Illy Trieste Science Prize . The prize carries a USD100,000 award. Deadline is 20 July 2011. For details, please see The Ernesto Illy Trieste Science Prize here (http://www.twas.org/).
