The Czech Academy of Sciences

CAS is a public non-university research institution, which comprises a system of scientific institutes.
The Academy was formerly known as the The Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic (ASCAR) has recently changed logo and name to the Czech Academy of Sciences (CAS)
Research conducted by the Academy endeavours to advance knowledge on an international scale while respecting the current needs of Czech society.
The supreme autonomous body of the Academy is the Academy Assembly. The executive body of the Academy is the Academy Council with the President at its head. Its permanent advisory body is the Council for Sciences, which deals with the scientific polic. These entirely academic bodies are always elected for four-year periods.
